Surrounding yourself with things you enjoy generates happiness

Live from Radio City, Week 3 Results – is the title for the episode of America’s Got Talent that I attended in New York City. Who knew I would be sitting in the Radio City Music Hall for a live filming of America’s Got Talent this year? It was an awesome experience.  Although, I am not an avid follower of this season it is one of my favorite talent shows currently on television.

One of my favorite things about this experience was seeing the production crew operate behind the scenes. As a marketing major seeing the components of a show come together under a designated time constraint was really interesting. There were cameras in various locations of the music hall, stage lighting for each segment of the show, staff coordinating efforts to engage the audience, and so much more.

Watching the behind the scenes production efforts was just as interesting as the live segments of the show.  Honestly, I almost missed this opportunity. After a long day in the office I considered not going to the show.  However, just before I left the office I told a colleague about the show and he advised to go and enjoy the evening. He further explained that when you lose motivation to do an activity it is sometimes best to push yourself to stay committed to the task. During these moments we experience some of our most memorable times.

Looking back I realize he was absolutely right. Surrounding yourself with things you enjoy generates happiness. I really like film production, talent shows, and looking at the New York City lights in the night sky. By attending this show I was able to experience happiness all around and I’m grateful for the opportunity.  Have you ever postponed or cancelled an outing or activity because of discouraging thoughts? Next time you find yourself in a similar situation, consider whether the discouraging feelings are more desirable to experience than the potential utility you could gain from following through.

2015 - So this is the tool i'm using to capture my adventures. It was a graduation gift from my parents and it's the best! I'm new to DSLR cameras and self teaching myself photography. This camera has been a great partner on my journey to live life to the fullest! Check it out below. :)

Things to consider:

If you always look for the perfect time to experience something you may be delaying a lot of opportunities.

Look for opportunities to explore things you are passionate about because avenues towards your interest aren’t always easily visible.

Speak with someone who has an active lifestyle and ask how they incorporate things in their life regularly.

Read! Reading is a great way to delve into things that make you happy.

Do you ever delay activities?

Costume: Easy DIY Devo Energy Dome Under $3

This (hat) energy dome is inspired by the 80ies band Devo's hit song, "Whip it". Devo Whip - Song If you are looking for a fun 80ies costume or you just really love Devo here is a great way to recreate the energy dome! The materials I used will be listed below. See my 30 second #DIY #Costume video here: I cut my shapes out free hand, but if you use a foam circle or measuring rulers the appearance can be fined tuned! Materials : Two red poster boards Tape ruler personal hat as a size reference ruler bobby pins apple red inside spray paint - "I took the hat out doors to spray it." Once the energy dome is complete grab a guitar (I used my Wii guitar hero controller), or any other instrument from the Whip It video. To secure the dome to your head you may need to affix a hair pin, wig clips, or cut a whole in the bottom to balance it.  *(caution: test all scenarios (clips/paint/glue) before wearing the dome to ensure comfort and no reactions)  This...

Backlog

I have a few topics to write about this month. I will list the topics below: in a taxi headed to Microsoft - charity beach photography project for children with autism - SQL Saturdays seminar at Microsoft in Manhattan - making gelato in NYC using a $20,000 culinary machine - preparing my 4th toastmaster speech - creating a supervisory guide regarding employee development and growth My goal is to write very detailed blogs on these topics this September. August was a month full of busy weekends, a few marketing projects and career growth projects. In regards to my supervisory guide, I plan to launch a independent research project on the subject which will include a test sample of at least 100 corporate professionals. To date this project is currently an eight page document which includes topics on personal performance analysis, cross training, and improving self efficacy. Hopefully by the end of this week a well written agenda will accommodate my efforts towards completing ...

Best Costumes 2015? Wear Costumes All Year!

Are costumes just for October? I think not! I love costumes and I think dressing up is tons of fun. I've recently took an active approach towards creating my own photography business. I realized there are little things you can do to differentiate/add value to your business. "Elvis" and Val in Vegas 2015 One way is your style of dress. Clean and professional appearances are essential for business, but what about when you are working with a younger audience or a themed party? What if an option for one of your service provides (Photographer/DJ) showed up at your child's superhero themed party as their archenemy? Maybe even their counterparts? I've seen how costumes even generate smiles on adults when I visited Fremont Street in Las Vegas Nevada. Impersonators were everywhere and everyone wanted to take pictures with them...I did too. I also attended the Evo gaming tournament and cosplay was very popular their too. So don't let October be the only time y...
